From Vinkel to Sint-Jan – Den Bosch’s Streets are Getting even Smarter!

Municipality of ’s-Hertogenbosch Collects StreetSense Firsts! ’s-Hertogenbosch was already the municipality where the first StreetSense pilot was conducted in 2020. Since then, the city has steadily expanded the number of StreetSense sites. As part of the DMI Ecosystem, Mobility Sensing installed even more new StreetSense devices last week. Additionally, the existing sites have been upgraded with the latest version of the StreetSense street sensor. From Vinkel to the Sint-Jan, no other city has so many smart streets!

The StreetSense sensors provide real-time data on the state and usage of roads in ’s-Hertogenbosch, all while ensuring the privacy of residents and visitors remains protected. With these insights, the municipality can monitor key traffic flows, such as those to and from the environmental zone and cut-through traffic. This enables better decision-making in response to urban developments. In particular, there were previously areas on the outskirts of the city where traffic data was lacking—now, valuable insights into traffic patterns in these locations are becoming available.

A big thank you to the Municipality of ’s-Hertogenbosch for the great collaboration. Together, we are making the city’s streets smarter every day!
