BridgeSense – in the Spotlight Soon

Perfect weather for a maintenance run! This week, Mobility Sensing carried out maintenance on the BridgeSense sensors in the North of the Netherlands. Bridges in Groningen, Friesland, and North Holland were visited to replace damaged and missing sensors. The fine weather ensured the maintenance ran smoothly.

The BridgeSense sensor network ensures that every bridge opening is reported in real-time. Since its inception by Mobility Sensing in 2016, more than 1,000 BridgeSense sensors have been installed on 300+ bridges. The bridge openings are shared with skippers and road users through the Blauwe Golfsysteem and National Road Traffic Data Portal. The bridge opening notifications are available as open data and are used by various apps and websites to warn skippers and drivers about an open bridge on their route. Extra sensors ensure that bridge openings continue to be reported, even if a sensor unexpectedly fails.

More news about BridgeSense is coming soon as the sensor network reaches a new milestone! Curious what milestone that is? The answer can be found on our homepage…
